Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, an American and British sitarist. She was also the youngest and first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She's the daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She spent her childhood bouncing back and forth from London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. After moving to Encinitas, California in 1999, she was awarded a high-school degree. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, but she has a very remarkable career in the field of recording and performing. She often joins her father during performances, something she's done for quite a few years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She's performed at many important venues across the globe. Anoushka isn't just a performer. Bapi The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. To honor her position as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
